Sales Manager – international B2B publishing and events


Up to £30,000 basic + commission and performance related bonus [OTE £50,000]

Opportunity to join a successful publishing and events company that has operated as a leader in its field for 30 years, producing a portfolio of highly respected publications, websites, conferences and exhibitions in the buildings materials sector.

Based in Surrey, UK, but with a worldwide client portfolio, we are seeking an enthusiastic Sales Manager to join our successful B2B publishing and events company. You will be responsible for selling monthly advertisements as well as event space for our annual international conference series to our industrial advertiser base.

Successful applicants will have previous experience in advertising and event sales, solid communication skills and a hunger to develop new business. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented sales manager who aspires to work in a genuinely international environment, with frequent overseas travel across the globe.


Summary of Main Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Manage day-to-day sales process for generating advertising sales across our portfolio of publications, monthly magazine, website, newsletters, webinars and conference series
  • Manage and retain existing client accounts while developing new business
  • Negotiate deals and maximise revenues from advertising and event sales
  • Interact daily with new and existing accounts via phone, video calls and face-to-face meetings
  • Travel internationally to visit clients, conferences and exhibitions
  • Meet monthly publishing deadlines and revenue targets
  • Promote our brands at international conferences & trade shows


Skills and experience:

  • B2B sales experience in publishing, media or events: 2 years (required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in conducting industry research / analysis and ability to absorb and interpret relevant technical product knowledge
  • Ability to create compelling sales and marketing information, in print and online
  • Creativity and initiative in a sales environment
  • Resilient, confident with a positive outlook
  • Strong skills in numeracy, computer literacy (MS Office), CRM systems and adept in using social media
  • Clean driving license
  • Languages an advantage (ie German, French, Spanish, Chinese)
