Sales Ledger Assistant / Accounts Receivable Assistant

A leading and well-established organisation is currently seeking a Sales Ledger Assistant / Accounts Receivable Assistant to join their growing Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with sales ledger, accounts receivable, or billing experience to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment.

This role would suit someone who is detail-oriented, organised, and experienced in invoicing, reconciliations and resolving customer account queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and process sales invoices and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain the sales ledger and accounts receivable records
  • Review and analyse billing data and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy
  • Perform customer account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Resolve customer invoice queries and account queries efficiently
  • Assist with month-end finance processes, including accruals and reporting
  • Support the finance team in achieving finance KPIs and service levels
  • Work collaboratively across the finance department and participate in cross-training
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and systems
  • Support finance projects and ad-hoc accounting tasks when required

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in Sales Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Billing, or Finance Assistant roles
  • Strong understanding of invoicing, credit notes, and customer account management
  • Experience with customer account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage a high volume of financial transactions and invoices
  • Confident using Excel, Word, Outlook and finance systems (ERP / accounting software)
  • Strong communication skills and professional telephone manner
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced finance environment

Desirable

  • Studying towards AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) or similar finance qualification
  • Experience working within a finance department, shared service centre, or accounting team
