Job Title: Product Marketing Assistant
Salary: £19,000 - £20,000 per annum
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday - 1 hour lunch
Role purpose and context:
To help develop, drive and deliver an integrated and effective product marketing strategy for designated brands designed to increase market share and profitability of the company product ranges
Responsibilities will include:
To participate effectively as a key member of the Development and Marketing Team by:
- Collating content to produce brand plans including brand identity, new product introductions, product portfolio management, pricing strategy, point of sale, digital marketing, promotions, PR, trade and consumer campaigns designed to increase sales and margin across brands and distribution channels.
- Collating brand budgets for expenditure, sales and gross margin. Monitoring performance monthly, bringing shortfalls to management’s attention along with proposals to remedy.
- Monitoring and reporting on competitor activity and market trends highlighting competitive threats and opportunities and making recommendations to neutralise or exploit as appropriate. Generating clear competitive positioning for the company brands.
- Contributing to point of sale programmes designed to maximise new product and brand distribution and rate of sale, taking responsibility for implementation.
- Liaising with external agencies and the Digital Marketing Executive to create PR and digital media campaigns, including effective social media engagement to maximise trade and consumer awareness and interaction with the brands.
- Generating effective promotional and distribution drives to maximise product distribution and rate of sale, in liaison with the Sales & Customer Support Manager.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Advanced level in all Microsoft Office Applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly numerate
- Strong analytical, administrative and organisation skills
- Great attention to detail
- Accurate data entry
- Demonstrable initiative and enthusiasm, and the ability to multi task
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Successful completion of a placement within a marketing department
- Understanding of brand identity guidelines and rules
- Creation of point of sale communications material, product instructions, product support material and promotion campaigns
- A 1st Class or 2.1 Honours graduate with Marketing as a core subject
