The Payroll Officer is responsible for all aspects of the payroll and expenses, to include commissions, and ensure payments to employees are accurate. Close attention to detail, honesty, confidentiality and integrity are essential in this role. The ability to work to a deadline is critical in this role due to the nature of the payments to employees.
It is expected that you will work alongside other members of the Finance and Administration team being a strong team player, willing to assist others as necessary to achieve team objectives.
Strong communication skills will be required as the role requires liaison with others both within the Company and externally, such as the third party payroll bureau etc.

The responsibilies required of the Payroll Officer are spread across the following areas:

  • Payroll – leading the payroll process, including sales commissions, employee expenses and pensions, providing the payroll bureau with the required information to ensure on time payment of payroll and pensions payments.
  • Accounting system – posting of salary and expenses journals on the accounting system.
  • Management information – assisting with the preparation of payroll and expenses variance analysis. Production of overheads analysis including variance to forecast/budget.

Qualities / experience:

  • Must be numerate and enjoy working with numbers
  • Experience of working with one or more computerised accounting packages
  • Must be IT literate with a working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Close attention to detail and accurate working is essential
  • Understanding of data privacy standards and confidentiality

  • Positive attitude and a desire to find solutions to problems as they arise
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organisational & planning skills with the ability to identify priorities and self-manageworkload to meet time critical deadlines
  • Qualified by experience, with 1 or more years of experience in a similar environment
  • Knowledge of SAGE 200, Rydoo and Autotask would be particularly useful but not essential as training can be given
  • Advanced Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, would be an advantage
