Our superb client in Dorking is seeking an experienced part-time Credit Controller to join their busy and friendly finance team.

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 FTE per annum dependent upon experience

Hours: Monday – Friday, 20 – 25 hours per week – shift pattern is flexible and will include hybrid working on agreement  

Location: Dorking with hybrid working and free car park on-site

Main Purpose of the role: To maintain an accurate debtor’s ledger and ensure that all income due is received and accounted for in accordance with terms agreed with customers and, in so doing, promoting the company and maintaining the customer’s confidence and loyalty.

 Main Duties:

  • To contact customers pro-actively, whether by telephone, e-mail, or fax, chasing all items due on a daily basis, in accordance with terms agreed with customers.  To record details of contact on Microsoft Dynamics Business Central System.
  • To review on a daily basis outstanding sales order on credit hold and if appropriate, taking into account customers credit and payment history, release them.  Seek advice from the Financial Controller if unsure of what action to take.
  • To issue an ‘order on hold’ report weekly for circulation to ASMs consulting with them as appropriate to resolve disputes speedily and expedite payment.
  • To issue credit control letters and handover debts to solicitors and/or specialist debt collection agencies in accordance with Company Policy.
  • To bring to Financial Supervisor’s attention any credit limits requiring review.
  • To investigate and raise pricing queries, arranging credits/raising of invoices, as required, to ensure customer accounts are correct and settled promptly.
  • To undertake credit checks via the nominated Agency prior to opening of new accounts.
  • To process credit/debit card payments, cash sales and staff sales.
  • To cover business critical aspects of the Accounts & Treasury Administrator’s duties during periods of absence for whatever reason.
  • To ensure an efficient and professional customer support service, both on the telephone and in written correspondence as per the procedure’s manual.
  • To undertake other duties as may be required from time to time.

Skills Required: 

  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Use of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Finance software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills and able to deal with challenging situations.
