Category Insights Executive/Manager
Based in Reigate, Surrey
Salary £35-45k for Category Executive, £45k - £60k Category Manager
Our client is an award winning, employee-owned food business with an international supply base. It supplies all major UK retailers along with foodservice customers, with both own-label and branded products.
The Category Insights Executive will report directly to the Marketing Manager (with additional frequent contact with the Sales & Marketing Director). The Category Insights Executive will be
responsible for providing detailed, account-specific category insights and quality market analysis in line with scheduled and ad-hoc requirements. The successful candidate will be required to offer proactive recommendations on growing sales in response to market trends. They will also work closely support the sales team in preparing in-depth customer presentations.
Responsibilities to include
- Support the sales and marketing teams to create engaging presentations for both current and prospective customers.
- Provide recommendations on how customers should develop product categories.
- Prepare presentations in agreed formats.
- Present draft data for review within agreed timescales.
- Develop the research function within the company, using data to drive the business forward.
- Develop extensive understanding of customers, brands and market data.
- Create and maintain regular market and competitor analysis reports.
- Provide information on market trends in relation to growth opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and data providers.
- Build close ties with all internal teams including sales, marketing, procurement, technical, supply chain and finance.
- Assist the broader marketing function in creating ad-hoc research assignments.
Qualifications
- 2.1 or above
- Preferably in a relevant data/numerical degree.
- Additional, specialised qualifications are desirable.
Experience
- Strong preference for a food industry background (although other FMCG product backgrounds will be considered).
- Preferable experience with Circana, NeilsenIQ, or Kantar data platforms.
- Minimum 1 year directly relevant experience in data analytics.
Expertise in Microsoft Office with particular focus on Excel and PowerPoint.
- An ability to convey complex data trends in clear and concise ways.
